Crash Test 2007 - 08 Volvo C70 IIHS (Side Impact)

Volvo C70 2006-08 models 2008 Top Safety Pick 2008 Volvo C70:good performance in front, side, and rear tests and standard electronic stability control SIDE IMPACT TEST WITH STANDARD SIDE AIRBAGS OVERALL EVALUATION: Good Injury measures Head protection Structure/safety cage Head/neck Torso Pelvis/leg Driver Good Acceptable Good Good Good Rear passenger Good Good Good Marginal Important: Side impact crash test ratings can be compared across vehicle type and weight categories. Test details: The Volvo C70 was redesigned for the 2006 model year. Injury measures: Driver — Measures taken from the dummy indicate that rib fractures would be possible in a crash of this severity. The risk of significant injuries to other body regions is low. Rear passenger — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity. (Note: during the test, injury data from the head were not obtained, but after the Institute reviewed comparable test data from Volvo, the head/neck injury risk was rated good.) Head protection: Driver — The dummy's head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed upward from the door and a side airbag that deployed from the seat. Rear passenger — The dummy's head was hit by the interior side trim. This impact did not produce high head injury measures, but the head protection is inadequate.
